Ihmeiden aika

The book The Time of Miracles was published in autumn 2010 and celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Estonian Institute in Finland.

The book covers the Institute’s years in Finland between 1995 and 2010. It contains several essays that are published for the first time, all concerning Estonia and Finland and the relations between the two neighbouring countries. There are also numerous photographs illustrating the Institute’s activities in the course of 15 years. The book is bilingual.

The section of articles opens with an introduction by Toomas-Hendrik Ilves, President of the Republic of Estonia, who briefly talks about the important mission of the Estonian Institute in Finland. It is followed by a welcome by the then director of the Estonian Institute, Mart Meri.

The chairman of the Society of Friends of the Estonian Institute Jaakko Blomberg offers an overview of the cooperation between the Estonian Institute and the Society.

The Estonian press officer at the European Commission, Erkki Bahovski, writes about Estonia's rapid development in recent decades and a possible future scenario.

Marju Lauristin and Peeter Vihalemm describe the transition period and discuss whether Estonia has followed the right path.

Economist Erik Terk analyses the development of Estonian economy through through turbulent decades.

Writer Jan Kaus reflects on Estonian culture and the era of individualism.

Art historian and critic Anu Liivak writes about the current art Estonian landscape as the result of processes that started twenty-five years ago.

The author of the last article, "Ripples of History", is Kulle Raig, who headed the Estonian Institute in Finland in 1995–1999.
