The similarly titled conference takes place for the 4th time. The first two days are devoted to the Estonian language, culture and society, and on the third day a trip is organised to Lake Võrtsjärv.
The Estonian Institute and the Budapest Romanian Cultural Institute organise in Budapest and Szegedi concerts at the Jazzlocomotive series. Estonia is represented by the musician, conductor and composer Siim Aimla, who was elected the musician of the year 2011 by the Estonian Public Broadcasting.
The Mother Tongue Day is traditionally marked with visiting the Latokartano school, and a seminar for teachers and parents in the Estonian House. Before the seminar, the Society of Education in the Estonian Language awards the participants in the drawing and writing competition of young adults.
The chatroom is meant for everybody who wishes to practice their spoken Estonian or Finnish - an hour of Estonian and an hour of Finnish, every Monday at 6 p.m. in Estonian House.
A meeting with the Estonian children's writer of Finnish origin Mikä Keränen, who writes exciting crime novels for children and young adults. The writer lives and works in Tartu. The events taking place in his books also happen in Tartus, more precisely in one district called the Soup Town.
The director of the new film is Heigo Lepla and producer Silver Siilak. It is an action film about the values of life, which should be easily understood by Estonians.
Monika Larini won the open competition and starts work on the 27th of February 2012.
As a homage to Oskar Luts, whose 125th anniversary was celebrated in January, the film club shows "Spring", made after the book of the same name (1970). The film is among the best of Estonian film classics, depicting the everyday life of children at a village school in a humorous vein.
The lecture explains the background of the national epic and introduces the work of F. R. Kreutzwald as the compiler of the epic.
The exhibition "Look in the Mirror" offers an overview of the winners of an international photography competition of the same name.
