ISEA2004 17 - 31 August 2004
12th symposium of electronic art ISEA2004 takes place on 13-22 August in Helsinki and Tallinn. ISEA is organised every two years in a different place (the last one was in Nagoya in Japan); this is the first time in a former eastern bloc country, involving also for the first time the cities of two countries and a cruise from one to the other (ISEA cruise on the Baltic Sea). The festival programme consists of about 300 different events, examining and analysing the most topical areas in new technology, science, new media culture and art. The Tallinn event (17-18 August) tackles 'wearable' technology, critical interdisciplines, and geopolitics of media, in Helsinki and on the cruise the focus is on wireless experience, histories of the new, open source and critical interaction design, also interfacing sound. ISEA2004 brings over a thousand international artists, scientists and practitioners to the Tallinn conferences, exhibitions, workshops, performances, concerts and club events.
ISEA2004 exhibition in Tallinn takes place in Rotermann Salt Storage, Art Hall and Art Hall gallery, City Gallery, Museum of Applied Art and Design and the Gallery of the Academy of Arts. The exhibitions will be open until 31 August.
ISEA2004 Tallinn's programme is organised by the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Center for Contemporary Arts in Estonia.
